ಕರು=ದೊಡ್ಡ, ಮಹಾ
ಪಾಳಮ್ಮ = ಪಾಳ್ಯದಮ್ಮ = ಹಳ್ಳಿಯಮ್ಮ = ಗ್ರಾಮದೇವತೆ
ಮಹಾ ಗ್ರಾಮದೇವತೆ = ಕಬ್ಬಾಳಮ್ಮ :)

interesting etimology about KabbaLamma..Also I would request you to post about the history of kollapuradamma... I have these temples around the villages of bangalore and sometimes even in bangalore... I doubt that Kollapuradamma is actually Kolhapur Mahalaxmi, whose temple might have been built by the marathas who came here in the time of Peshwes and shivaji... do share you thoughts..
