socialism v/s capitalism

There are lot of thoughts going on whether we should continue to pursuesocialistic values in our democratic nation or are we( our country) is in a stagewhere we should start thinking of moving towards capitalism.
With my vague understanding, theoritically, socialism claims to provide equal civilian opportunities ( facilities) to the people ( irrespective of their attributes like economical status, caste, race, physical/mental ability)to lead a meaningful life whereas capitalism also strives to do the same in much different way, rather in an indirect way, but there is no guarantee that captialism will address/provide the opportunities to people from all walks of life. It tends to be in favour those who are capable of investing(or who have capital). Also since there
will be multiple guyz who will be capable of investing it creates competition among themselves which will bring out best from each of them, which in-turn benefits the entire public. this is the key feature of capitalism. It (or supposed to) brings out best from the people.

In my understanding, our country has basically socialistic economy setup. Agriculture still remains to be the major occupation and we have a huge gap between rich and poor. it is going to be a big challenge how are we going to overcome it. Its really the middle class people who have benefited significantly from the IT industry whereas other traditional small scale industries have gone bankrupt due to various reasons like mis-management, lack of
raw materials and increased maintainance cost.

The million dollar question is how are we going to remove poverty from the country?is it by green revolution or small scale industry revoulution or IT revolution??should we embrace capitalism ? or should we review and refine our socialism ? will captilism is kind enough to
give opportunity to downtrodden people? should we continue to have agriculture as the main occupation. Should we do more industrialisation ( especially private or private-public owned)
Are we incapable of making agriculture more interesting and increase its share in GDP. do we have to move people from entrepreneurial agriculture( which has high risk due to so many factors like rain gods, market conditions and not so scientific ways of cultivation to be really profited) to labour based small scale industry where the person gets regular source of income. why are we not succesfull in augmenting farmer with other secondary occupations like sericulture, cattle rearing and poultry which can improve the economy of the farmer and also contribute to the GDP.
Is privatisation answer to all these? will privatization gives rise other problems like market getting monopolized by single company and hence others get dictated by small group of people. we are already seeing the pathetic service given by private banks and other institutions.
Or is it the time where we need to have the best of both captialism and socialism so that we can have capitalism in high-tech sector and socialism in agriculture, small-scale industries and other humanitarian sectors like Health, education and awareness.

Socialism ...That's a pretty old cow now, long forgotten. Well the truth is law of jungle in human world too, After all the absolute truth is "Survival of the Fittest". Sounds very bad almost human, but that's the truth, and that's what capitalism is all about.
Let me propose a new way a funnctioning of he world, Morality. That's what all the religions are about. Be moral, help the down-trodden, protect the weak, have fair competition, help the old, guide the young.
And then there is goveremet. The role of the goverment apart from running the smooth buisness is also o, see how to uplift the less unfortunates of the society. In the guise of this they shouldn't encourage mediocracity.
Its a tight balance. A balance is what needs to be found. Unfortunately my friends like in life, governing too has has no simple right and wrong answers. And there are no examples, we need to follow our own path.
I just we do follow a better path, becuase the current path is all of self destruct. The killing of Techies in Bangalore is a fine example in the case

hey,
we can't apply law of jungle to civilised soceity. human being is basically social, civilised animal and he has developed civilisation over long period of time. that's why we dont eat each other unlike in jungle!!

and about Morality, it is very natural that man starts loosing his moral values as he accumulates the wealth barring some exceptions.
so i am afraid that capitalism could bring down the morality of the society at some point of time.

i agree that we shouldn't encourage mediocracity but we can't ignore it. it is invariably present is society because each human brain is unique. its the truth.

Since capitalism is all about making profit, i am kind of apprehensive about capitalist being compassionate about downtrodden people.

I simply dont agree that with money people forget morality :D. Probably that is the image build by indian movies. I think all these middle class people who have reached the top are making the difference in India today. Making difference in small and big way.
Neither do I agree that india poor have still remain poor, things are changing, and I like the capitalistic way because it gives me the opportunity to struggle and reach the top. I know it is not the perfect system, but we all who have benifited from this have to make the difference.

Rebuttal:
1. I Don't say apply the law of jungle to the human society, I am saying it already exists, wheather you like it or not. There is always a deire for one to exceed the other, that's the world had progressed technologically. Ofcourse it screwed up big time because they forgot about Morality, though we do go to temples and churches we forgot what they mean. We say the preaching but failed to implement. Just follow the principle "Love thy neighbour as yourself" & 90% of the world problem will vanish. Btw I amn't preaching Christianity here, I am a staunch Hindu, but don't close ears to good things.

2,4 : Looks like you are quite infulnced by Hollywood/Indian Movies my friend, which displays rich guy as the mean guy. Well change the outlook, all rich aren't bad not all downtrodden need upliftment. I don't even want to count the social service which some of the corporate organization do, because these things aren't meant for proving a point, As they say in Hindi "If you want to donate, donate in such fashion, that one hand gives and your other doesn't even know about it".

3. Mediocracity: There should be enough jobs for everyone. doesn't mean we make undeserving people doctors, administrator or engineers etc. We need to excel in everything. A guy who isn't a good Designer might be a terrific systest guy, a average lawyer might be a great traffic cop. The idea is to let people know that they should understand themselves.
